5 Reasons Why Circuit Training Will Make you Lean and Strong

It seems like there are constant fitness fads and new training techniques coming out all of the time. This isn’t one of them. Circuit training has been around for ages, but now we’re lucky enough to have some great instructors that give us the ability to do a quick but highly effective circuit training workout at home.

1. It doesn’t take a lot of time. Who has 45 minutes to walk or run on the treadmill and then get off and go lift weights for another half hour? Those workouts are a thing of the past, if you’re smart anyway. You can get an amazing and amazingly effective workout in less than 30 minutes per day. Try a great circuit training workout for a straight 30 minutes and you’ll believe. You’ll probably be more exhausted than you are doing the treadmill then weights routine.

2. You work your entire body. A good circuit training workout not only has you breathing hard and sweating out some good cardio, but all of your muscles will be burning too. The idea is to move quickly from exercise to exercise to get the heart rate up. You work a large muscle with a small muscle. For instance, do some lunges and shoulder presses at the same time. You’ll feel that it’s much more effective than the lunges by themselves.

3. It’s easy to keep your interest level up. If you’re constantly changing exercises, it’s mentally easy to know you can make it through. The worst part of a long treadmill workout is the game you have to play with yourself to get through doing the same thing for that long. Plus, if you get bored you can always switch up the exercises or mix and match day to day.

4. It’s easy to stick with a time commitment of 20 – 30 minutes, three times per week. Who can’t find 20 minutes? Lets say it’s 8:40pm and Law & Order is on a 9pm. You could get a great workout in just that time.

5. You don’t need fancy equipment. Most circuit training workouts can be done at home. Grab a few free weights and a great instructional video and you’ll be well on your way to a quick but killer workout.
