Anti-Static Treadmill Mats

Anti-static floor mats in general are useful in areas where small electrical charges exist and might interfere with the normal function of people and equipment. Anti-static treadmill mats serve the same functions of any other treadmill mat but with the specific ability to protect against small static charges that might occur from surrounding objects or from friction of the treadmill.

There are many types of floor mats that are used as treadmill equipment mats but can serve many general functions as well. Often, floor mats are used simply to protect the floor or an area of the floor. It also helps prevent injury or damage of dropped objects. In terms of anti-static mats, it provides some degree of electrical insulation to keep electric charges from running rampant.

Treadmill mats protect the floor specifically from the type of damages posed by a treadmill. It serves as a shock absorber between the floor and the treadmill. There is a lot of vibration energy that is generated by a treadmill during use which will transfer to the floors eventually damaging the floor. The vibration will also reverberate back into the body of treadmill significantly reducing the life expectancy of the machine. A treadmill mat reduces the vibration which also helps reduce noise levels.

One purpose of any floor mat is that is protects the floor against spills. This is also true of treadmill mats since motorized parts of a treadmill will sooner or later leak lubricant. This sludge that drips from the treadmill will end up on the floor or carpet which can leave an ugly stain. A floor mat not only will catch the drip from touching the floor but also keeps dust and carpet fiber from entering the underside of the treadmill. Dust entering the underside of the treadmill can easily clog the moving parts which can be costly to repair.

Anti-static treadmill mats are not common but do exist for areas where the floor might require insulation against small static charges. It is always to a good idea to minimize unwanted stray charges when working with machinery such as a treadmill.
