Health with Big Support

Regardless of how your 2009 year went your 2010 can be exactly what you want it to be.  It would be helpful if you reflected right now on what you want your 2010 to be like.  Take a look back at your life as a person and as a runner because in the end they each affect the other.

Millions upon millions of runners will make one kind of resolution or another.  If this is you than one of your resolutions will most likely be to increase your training both intensity as well as effectively.  I say this because there are many new ways to make your runs last longer, with supplements, and more ways to make it more fun and effective with technology.  My partner for example has made the resolution to run in a local marathon that is a qualifier for the Boston marathon, and to help her we are thinking about getting some used exercise equipment.

Improving your training is an easy one because there are so many things you can do in order to make the training better.  You can be more consistent in your runs, or develop a more consistent stretching routine in order to prolong the life of your joints and tendons.

It is most important to make sure that above everything you keep a runners perspective.  Rather than letting the running control you it may be time to make sure your running is giving you the benefit of relaxation and solace so that you can be a better person.  There is no point in running yourself right away from family, friends and other personal responsibilities.   You may even want to consider buying used treadmills so that your family can see you living and exercising and being a good example to them.

Make certain your running lifestyle is allowing you to put the running time in proper order with the rest of your life and make sure the rest of your life is making time for your running.  Once you do that you are ready to make more specific goals for the new year.

If you want to lose 10 pounds in order to drop your running times than you need to spend some time making specific goals to help you get there.  Perhaps by joining a running group you can make it easier for yourself to set and meet goals.  Often by having group goals when you are slacking others in the group can help you overcome, and same for them when they are slacking.  Just make sure whatever you decide to develop a support group to help you get to those goals sooner.
