Reduce Man Boobs with Men Liposuction

Traditionally, aesthetic surgery treatments, to reshape the body, have been associated to women; however the fact that men undergo liposuction and several other body shaping treatments is more and more common. Actually, according to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), 12% of the liposuction treatments performed in USA in 2008 were on male patients. Due to the increasing amount of men that undergo liposuction to improve their look, male liposuction will increase even more its popularity among the aesthetic surgery operations in general.

One of the common uses of liposuction for men is the treatment for gynecomastia (commonly called man boobs), or the abnormal grow of large breasts in men. Often caused by hormone imbalance, man boobs can be described as a fat deposit or glandular tissue in the chest area. Liposuction, sometimes combined with other surgical techniques, is very effective to reduce man boobs in their size and volume. In many cases, liposuction is performed through excisions so thin that scars are so little they can be barely seen or there are no scars at all.

Even if liposuction can be used to reduce man boobs, it is important that the surgeon, first of all, determines if the excess breast tissue is fat or glandular tissue. If the large breast contains predominantly fat, liposuction is an excellent method to reduce its size and improve the chest look.

If man boobs are composed of glandular tissue, liposuction is not a suitable solution and other treatments, such as hormonal ones or drugs take in, must be followed. Always remember that during pubertal age, man boobs is very common in boys due to the hormonal change they go through. From 12 to 18 years of age, no treatment should be followed, as after puberty the hormone will balance again by themselves and man boobs will disappear.
