The Joys of Losing Weight
I realize the idea of weight loss to most people is a horribly dreadful experience that they’d chew off their own arm if they could avoid; this is the type of mentality that has lead everyone to looking for a quick fix for weight loss. The joys of weight loss are a real thing and something you can experience. When the body is healthy and exercises it releases endorphins that increase happiness and give a sense of satisfaction. A well done exercise or new goal broken instills a sense of success and accomplishment. You can use exercise as a positive means to increase pleasure and joy, instead of thinking of it as a punishment you are forced to do in order to look good.
The first advantage is having more energy. By having more energy you will be more willing to do things that bring a sense of accomplishment. Exercise and a healthy body can lead to activities that bring fond memories. Would you rather see a beautiful picture of the city on your TV that was taken from the top of a local mountain or make it to the top of mountain yourself and experience the majestic view in your own private way? If you look back on life what is a greater accomplishment: watching television for eight hours straight or jogging all the way through the park? You don’t need to run a marathon to instill these feelings either, just by setting and accomplishing simple goals you will bring a sense of pride and happiness to yourself. You set a goal like walking to the park and back, and each day you extend it a little more until you are walking to the park and around it several times before heading home.
The ability to track progress with both exercise and weight loss will leave you feel like you are doing something with your life, instead of just wasting away in front of the TV. Fitting into smaller sizes, being able to wear a wider range of outfits, and not being a winded sweaty mess after getting to the top of a single flight of stairs are great reasons to lose weight.
Something people don’t consider is that most healthy foods are very different than the cheeseburgers we regularly order from a fast food restaurant. Not only will you be able to eat healthier foods that help you lose weight, but you will be introduced into new flavors that you could have never imagined. Healthy eating is not all about eating Styrofoam and cardboard. You can prepare some amazing meals that will send your taste buds on an adventure and let you truly experience the joys of losing weight.
