Weight Sets Guide

One of the most popular types of fitness equipment is free weight sets. There are many reasons for this. Weight sets offer several great advantages including being inexpensive, durable, easy to use and take very little space. Weight training is a great way to not only build bigger muscle and tone the body but can also help with burning fat and losing weight as well as improve one’s overall fitness.

Weights sets come in a variety of sizes, shapes, materials and weight. There are cheap weight sets that may cost less than one hundred dollars all the way up to high quality Olympic weight sets or a bench weight set that costs thousands of dollars.

There are two basic types of free weight sets: the dumbbell weight set and the Olympic weight set. A dumbbell is a weight that you hold with one hand. They come made in various types of materials and weight sizes. There are also adjustable dumbbell weight sets where you can change the amount of weight on the dumbbell. Dumbbells are the most popular form of weights set because they are so easy to use, inexpensive and take very little space to store. They are also fairly portable if you want to move them from room to room or even from place to place.

An Olympic weight set uses a weight bar and comes with adjustable plates of varying weights. The placement hole is larger than a standard barbell set and Olympic weight sets are also made of very high quality materials. They tend to be more expensive that other types of weight sets, but for those looking for high quality, durable weights they are a good choice.

To choose the best weight set for you, take into consideration your budget, your fitness goals and the space you have available for weight training. Sometimes cheap weight sets are all you need and can get the job done. However, if you are using heavier weights you need to make sure they stay securely on the weight bar. Also inferior materials may not last as long and you could end up spending more money in the long run if you have to replace them. In terms of space, if you have plenty of room you can also consider a weight machine or a hybrid machine that also has a weight bench where you can use free weight sets. This can allow you to switch between using machine and free weights and work out a wide range of different muscle groups.  If you are low on space for a whole set of free weights, then you may want to look into getting some adjustable dumbbells.  Check out this other post that I wrote about the best adjustable dumbbells, and you can learn which kind is right for you.
