What Is Aerobic Exercise?

There are some great benefits from doing aerobic exercises.  You’ll be able to strengthen both your heart and your lungs, plus lose some weight or maintain the weight you are at, as well as increase your coordination and lower your blood pressure.  You also get a nice jolt to your metabolism, and you’ll also get more oxygen pumping to your heart and throughout your body.  This gives you more energy to keep on going.

There are many different kinds of aerobic activities for you to choose from. Some of these include riding a bike, running outside or on a treadmill, going swimming, and even doing the aerobic exercises at your local gym.

If you have joint pain, or knee pain, or some other type of pain, then you’ll probably want to choose a low impact alternative such as doing water aerobics exercises.  The water can give you a safe resistance that can help you to get the workout needed, without the extra stress that weights or other resistance may provide.

You’ll need to look at your own exercises goals as well as the level of fitness you are at before deciding what activities will be right for you.  Before to consult a physician before embarking on any such workout routine.  This will help you to stay safe and healthy.  Whether you do things on your own, or whether you join a class, it doesn’t matter much, as long as you actually do something.

Whatever you do though, make sure to vary your exercises or else your body will be able to adapt to your exercises if you are doing the same ones over and over.    You definitely don’t want to overdo it when you are first starting out, but don’t let all of this information overwhelm you.  The best thing you can do is to get out there and start exercising.
